🎵 Brewing Community Through Music: Fermata Returns to Starbucks Café in Lucan Shopping Centre for a Summer Recital, a dose of live music🎶 Join us from 2.00 pm on Sunday, 18 May!🎶 | Fermata School of Music

🎤💛On Sunday, 18 May at 2:00 PM, Fermata Music School will once more bring the joy of live music to the heart of Lucan Shopping Centre, with our Starbucks Café Summer Recital. This special afternoon will feature performances by talented Fermata students and the much-loved Fermata Sotto Voce – the happy & fun choir. With coffee brewing, smiles glowing, and melodies filling the air, this is more than just a concert—it’s a celebration of music, connection, and community spirit. 💚

This isn’t our first appearance at Starbucks Lucan, and it won’t be our last. Our ongoing partnership with the café has become a key part of our school’s mission to make music more accessible and visible in everyday life. We believe music should be everywhere—not just in classrooms or formal stages, but in the spaces where life happens. Whether over a cappuccino or during a Saturday grocery run, there’s something powerful about stopping to listen to a young violinist or hearing a choir bring cheers on such a beautiful and sunny day.

At the heart of this collaboration is Jakub, the ever-supportive and community-minded manager of Starbucks Lucan. Without Jakub’s openness, generosity, and belief in the power of local arts, these gigs simply wouldn’t happen. He’s more than just a café manager—he’s a quiet patron of the arts, someone who understands how a small corner of a shopping centre can transform into a stage for dreams. We’re endlessly grateful for his trust in us and his ongoing support for music education in Lucan.

“He’s one of those people who doesn’t say much, but his actions speak volumes,” shared one of our teachers. “Jakub welcomes us every time with a smile, moves tables to make room for instruments, and makes every student feel important.”

This Sunday’s performance promises to be a heartwarming one. It will include a mix of solo performances, duets, and small ensembles by Fermata students of various ages and with various experiences. From the very youngest first-time performer to more advanced students preparing for graded exams, everyone gets a moment to shine. And of course, the day’s highlight will be a spirited performance by Fermata Sotto Voce — the Fermata that’s OPEN to anyone who LOVES singing. Fermata Sotto Voce choir is known for joy, energy, and a love for songs that uplift and unite. 🎤✨

Fermata Sotto Voce, sometimes lovingly called “The Fun Choir,” is all about singing from the heart, laughing during rehearsals, and sharing music in a real and inclusive way. After a short break, they return to the stage for this recital—and yes, they’re still alive and singing! Their set will include familiar favourites and possibly a few surprise numbers, sure to get toes tapping and hearts singing along.

Events like this remind us why we started Fermata Music School in the first place. Music isn’t just about exams or technique—it’s about expression, building confidence, and bringing people together. Our goal has always been to keep music alive in every corner of our community, and we are proud to say this Starbucks Café collaboration does just that.

Families, passers-by, and coffee lovers are all invited to stop, listen, and enjoy the show. And if you’re a Fermata student still deciding whether to participate, there are a few performance slots left! Just be sure to book your spot by Friday.
